“Your voice is a pathway to presence, vitality, and authentic connection.”

I love connecting through harmony!

One of my weekly singers recently commented that of all the ways we can be together as people, singing together is unique. We can connect without conversing, and share in collective joy and calm. I lead weekly singing because I need it! Harmony is one of my medicines, and I love sharing her salve.

In additional to weekly singing, my vocal support practice helps people discover more vocal options, sounds, and spaces. The voice is so versatile as tool for self expression, pure joy, wellness, stress relief, confidence, awareness, and connection. Vocal embodiment work uses breath, sound, and vocal expression toward feeling more grounded, resilient, and genuinely yourself.

I offer compassionate guidance for all experience levels of singing, speaking, managing stress through sound, and connecting with the authentic voice.

Common desires are building vocal confidence, song sharing skills, personal expression, singing as we age, songwriting, weaving song with life, learning to sing harmony, and more.

“We are all meant to sing freely, breathe fully, and live wholeheartedly.”

I want to explore my voice

Are you in Olympia? We sing every Sunday…

“I first came to Olympia Sisters in Harmony a few months after moving to the area. I immediately felt welcomed to the group and a part of something special - like coming home, to all the best parts of being home - being connected, feeling held, and being nurtured. The songs we sing together are beautiful and I love how easy it is to hear and sing the harmonies. Fehlya has such a warm and welcoming way of guiding us in song.

I often hear one or more of the songs playing in my head, during the week between our sessions. And sometimes I even sing them out loud, usually in nature - I sing to the trees, I've sung to a river, and in the morning when I hear the birds, sometimes I sing, "Listen the birds are singing, singing their freedom". It is such a joy to sing with Fehlya.”

Individual Voice Sessions

I love inspiring vocal comfort and connection. Many of us have heard or felt negativity about our voices and yet we still feel a deep desire to enjoy song, harmony, poetry, or more authentic speech. Our voices are an integral part of our identity, both inner and outer. We can gain awareness that allows more flexibility in singing and/or communicating our intent.

Voice sessions provide a practical and transformational path to uncovering your vocal abilities and to understanding yourself and others in a fresh way. For those living with stress, anxiety, and/or depression, mindful and embodied vocal sessions can generate coping resources.

“I began working with Fehlya serendipitously just prior to applying for a new job. Her vocal coaching offered an opportunity to explore my voice through singing. It was also a chance to creatively reflect on how I use my voice to communicate professionally. I came away from Fehlya’s lessons with a stronger voice than I knew I had and deeply enjoyed the process of working together.”

- Elia, Medical Educator

Fehlya is a certified Full Voice coach, singer, songwriter, and songleader. Her singing background is in classical voice studies, including competition singing and professional choirs. She is currently inspired by singing for pleasure and helping others find comfort in their voices.

Why Full Voice?

Fehlya: “I was drawn to this method because it is so fun but also because I quickly felt my voice expanding. I was trained as a high/head voice singer but within a year of playing with the Full Voice method, I gained five new low notes I hadn’t imagined were there. This practical gift was amazing, and then it rippled into my psyche. I saw my conflict avoidance in a new light and felt the earth voice grounding me in easier, deeper honesty. I love the layers that keep unfolding.”

We warmly welcome new singers!

Olympia Sisters in Harmony

In our women’s community singing group we focus on uplifting each other through harmony and listening. We reconnect with ourselves and to the living earth through peaceful and seasonal wisdom songs.

Songs are taught by ear. They are so accessible that many singers have taught them to friends and family, and sing them to trees, waters, and skies. No experience is needed and singing is always optional. If you have done other choir or community singing, you will notice that this is less guided but still held. Singing parts are taught but usually not directed and the songs themselves become the structure. When we align, individuals are free to choose what to sing but still carried within the group murmuration. It’s a magical experience!

Self care and movement are welcome throughout. See song examples in the video and feel free to reach out with questions.

Email or text (360) 485-2439 to get details. We sing year round at my home in south Olympia. There is no charge for this community offering. Donations are gratefully accepted.

We also keep up a playlist of our songs to listen to between sessions, a community chat group, and other resources. Everyone who identifies with this offering and who would feel supported by it is welcome.

Community Sing Along

Near each solstice and equinox, Olympia Sisters in Harmony hosts an all community sing along for friends and family to share in this experience and celebrate the season shifts together.

Sign up below for updates and send me a text at 360-485-2439 or an email if you have any questions. We look forward to singing with you!

Baby & Mother Blessing

Blessing gatherings, sometime called a Blessingway, utilize the ancient practice of circling. The most important women, or people, in an expectant mother’s life, gather around her to share love and to listen to her hopes, fears, and joys. Simple rituals such as introducing female ancestry along with yourself, making something, singing together, sharing a meal, all remind the expecting mother of her community of strength and her connection to all mothers.

Singing in a circle of community adds depth, beauty, and meaning to a blessing. The songs are taught by copying a short example and they have minimal but powerful lyrics such as, ‘No matter how the waves crash, the ocean is calm beneath, dive deep into your pool of peace’. Mothers report that the singing helps them feel centered and more prepared for the upcoming birth. Friends and family appreciate the experience as a blessing and often have personal takeaways as well. Blessing song circles are a beautiful way to nourish the soul. If you would like to try out a song circle first, Olympia Sisters in Harmony sing every Sunday at 1p.

What Women are Saying About Blessingways

from Blessingways by Shari Maser, CCE

  • “It was very liberating — my fear was transformed into joy, and the power of love in the room made me feel open to the unpredictability of labor instead of vulnerable to it.”

    Robin

  • “It’s amazing what the Blessingway does to people. Just amazing. It’s very difficult to put into words. There’s nothing like it that I know of for helping people prepare for birth. It just brings an incredible reality to it, and a power and an inner strength to the woman."

    Helen

  • “I really felt this connection with everybody that was there and it felt like a true celebration of the pregnancy and of me. It was a spiritual experience. I would have to say I really felt ready to have the baby — it was sort of the like the last piece for me in my preparation to labor and give birth.”

My Feelings

Written as a calming reminder.

My feelings are healthy and normal

they will come and I will listen

they will go and change into other things

just like the beautiful sky

What is Good For Me

Written as a soothing reminder.

What is good for me won’t pass me by

and who is right for now won’t want to fly

I am here, with my future always unclear

but what I am drawn to will carry me through

I Will Ground

Inspired by a desire to perpetuate and internalize the ability to ground, many times each day.

I will ground in my body, when it all feels so strong

I will ground in the body, as the waves roll along

Grounding in now, grounding here now

Breathe out all the way, breathe out all of it

A Leaf

Born on a teary nature walk, this song touches on the theme of gifts we might experience through challenging times.

A leaf, dangling by a spider thread

Does a most beautiful dance

Sometimes, we dangle by a single thread

And do a most beautiful dance

Snowlight

Inspired by the glorious brightness of snowy covered nights.

Where would you go, by the light of the snow?

Where would you be lead by the snowlight?

On a breeze, through the trees

A star takes my hand and I kiss the moon

My beloved Grandma Barb with my young father.

Let’s Co-Create a Song for You!

Creating a song is a beautiful way to process and celebrate life. Your song could be for a loved one, living or in spirit, for your own milestone or a way to capture a precious moment. When I am stuck, writing and singing a simple mantra song helps me stay connected to the wisdom I need. What kind of song would support you right now?

After some pre-work, we meet online or in person for two, 50 min. sessions to create a song designed to support you and to be accessible to your voice. At the end of this time, you will have a short mantra style song recorded for you by Fehlya. See the My Songs page for examples of mantra style songs. If you are interested in creating a song with more than one part, let me know and we will try to add this in.
